Community Outreach Continues as District Prepares for Community Survey

Throughout the summer, Park District staff and the project team have been connecting with residents at parks, recreation facilities, community events, civic locations, local businesses, and other places where people regularly gather. These conversations are helping the team learn more about residents’ experiences, their awareness and use of the Park District, and what they believe should be considered as the District plans for the future.

A central goal of this outreach is to hear from a broad and representative cross-section of the community. This includes families, Hispanic residents, non-users, and others who may be less likely to participate through traditional public meetings.

The next major opportunity to participate will be a comprehensive community survey scheduled for release in late August. The survey will ask residents about their use of parks, facilities, programs, and services, as well as their priorities and perspectives about the future.

Residents do not need to be regular Park District users to participate. Hearing from people who do not currently use the District and understanding why is also important to the planning process.
